Fantastic Storage
Looks great and works well. Needed manual partition as the supplied set up assistant does not work with iMac OS 10X (something to do with no longer supporting PowerPC). This was not difficult as the LaCie web site gives a great guide. It's now happily backing up with time machine and looks much better than a cloud.

Just what was needed.
Fantastinc piece of kit. Pre loaded software was very easy to use but only allowed a very small FAT32 partition so i opted to manually configure it so i could swap files between Mac & PC. Really quick even on USB 2.0 and looks good on the desk - what more could you ask for!

A true 'Ronseal' drive - sexy too

I don't think I've ever set up a drive quicker than this one: 4 steps to the quick install guide - plug in, follow 'em, and Bob's yer uncle. About 3 minutes to format and even my worm-eaten old Dell Vista could see it. Haven't tried any of the 'optional extras' yet (my registry's cluttered enough as it is), but the encrypted partition software looks useful. I also can't vouch for the speed, since I'm using it in USB 2.0 mode, but it seems plenty fast enough for what I need, and I'm glad to have a USB 3.0 drive for the future.

All in all, a very nice buy: simple, quiet, and a lot cheaper than you'd think by the look and feel (it IS sexy).

Tip for neophytes: Just use the 'Windows' option and configure it as a single NTFS volume. Most Linux's should have no problem reading it (although you may need Samba); and it's...
